Have These Insomnia Causes Ever Kept You Awake At Night?

Sleep problems affect us all, at one point or another. When it happens to you, you probably wonder why. Well, when it comes to insomnia causes, there is no single answer. There are a lot of mental or physical issues, for example, that can create a sleeping problem. Distractions and outer issues can also play a large part. Another thing to consider is that, often times, it’s a combination of factors that causes a sleeping problem. So, Let’s review some of the most common of those things.

Hormones can play a huge part in whether you do or do not sleep well at night. That’s why women tend to have a bigger problem than men do with sleep. Pregnancy and menopause create a lot of hormonal changes in the bodies of women. That can mean a lot less sleep at night.

Age can also be a physical cause for insomnia. You see, there’s a hormone called melatonin that your body makes to help you get to sleep at night. When you age, though, your body makes less of it. So, you could find it harder to sleep at night, as a result. Don’t overlook a natural sleep remedy when you’re suffering the effects of insomnia.

Illnesses and physical injuries can also keep you from resting easy at night. A couple contributors are Parkinson’s Disease and arthritis. Other causes can include acid reflux and sleep apnea, which is a condition where you stop breathing for short bursts while you sleep.

When you look at psychological causes for insomnia, general stress is right up there on the list. Worrying about something coming up the next day, like a big meeting at work, can be one cause of stress-related insomnia. You might just be one of those people who is constantly worried about things, though. If that’s the case, you may find yourself dealing with sleepless nights more often than not.

General anxiety and temporary anxiety attacks can also be a cause of sleeping problems. A visit to the doctor or the dentist is one example of something like that. So, every time such an event pops up, you could have trouble sleeping prior to it.

As if all that weren’t enough, then there are the temporary causes. Things that you drink and eat, for example, can play a role. Too much caffeine, alcohol or sugar, for example, can leave you wide awake when it should be time to drift off to sleep.

Medications, jet lag and distractions like loud noises or bright lights are also insomnia causes. So, the next time you have trouble sleeping at night, try turning off the lights and the TV and tuning out the world a bit. It can make all the difference in the world, as far as getting the rest you need and deserve.
